Hello wonderseekers!
Today is the first of May, also known as May Day. Celebrations on the day originated from the Celtic festival of Beltane and the Roman festival of Floralia, with the day meant to mark the halfway point between the vernal equinox and the summer solstice. It is also considered the first day of summer in some traditions (but don't tell the Brits because we still haven't seen spring yet!!) It’s celebrated with bonfires, Morris dancing, dancing around a maypole, and even a bit of sexy time in honor of the fertility of summer. (The maypole being a phallic symbol, apparently.)
May Day is also the traditional day in Europe and Asia for celebrating the rights of workers, known as International Workers’ Day. Although it is not celebrated in the US (obvs, our Labor Day is in September), it was an American protest that was the origin of the bigger global celebration.
So, for May Day, I have a few thoughts on how my view about work has changed and why. One new idea: don’t bring your whole self to work.

Some work wonderbringers for me this week:
‘Urgency culture’ might lead you to burnout: How can you combat it?
‘Lazy girl jobs’ are trending in rally against burnout culture: An attempt to reclaim some power in the face of corporate exploitation.
Some Americans are secretly working multiple remote jobs. Bosses shouldn't be worried about it.
I really enjoyed my recent conversation I with Lucas Rockwood on his podcast. One question he posed was what emotion did I think was the opposite of wonder. Listen to hear my answer.
And later this month, I’ll be heading to a most marvelously named spot known as Lusty Beg, Ireland for SheVentures- Ireland’s first all-island summit for women founders! I’ll be keynoting as well as running a session on building a good organisational culture. Tickets are still available. Can’t wait!
With wonder,
