Hello wonderseekers!
I am off on holiday very soon and have been reflecting on how vacations have changed over the years. I still recall printed TripTiks and the giant, dogeared Fodor’s Guide with phone numbers to call (yes, call) for hotel bookings, getting messages delivered at the American Express office and cashing travelers’ checks. Remember red-inked carbon copy plane tickets that were delivered to your home and even the smoking section on the plane?? (Why did they stick the smoking section in the front? When you took off, all the smoke rolled to the back!)
But vacations are not a new concept. The ancient Seven Wonders of the World were a travel guide of sorts, too. From the World History Encyclopedia: “The Seven Wonders were first defined as themata for Hellenic sightseers (Greek for "things to be seen" which, in today's colloquial English, one would phrase as "must-sees") by Philo of Byzantium (l. 3rd century BCE) in 225 BCE, in his work On the Seven Wonders.” The Greek Empire had recently expanded significantly, and well-off Hellenic citizens wanted to explore the best this new Greece had to offer.
Apologies, but I am having some technical issues today, and my newsletter program is not happy with uploading my new travel-related video!! I will work on it this week and promise to be back at it next week for you! If you are desperate to hear my voice, you can listen to some thoughts on travel from earlier in the year below.

Some wonderbringers for me this week:
Why travel should be considered an essential human activity:
This Is Your Brain On Travel: How that trip is good for your noggin.
Keep using those TripTiks!: Relying on GPS is shrinking your gray matter. (h/t to Kelly Hoey’s weekly newsletter)
I am looking forward to my visit to Paris later in the month for the WeConnect Supplier Diversity Conference, where I’ll be speaking about wonder in networking and leadership! If you’ll be joining me there, please get in touch so I can be on the lookout for you.
With wonder,
