I did some teacher training at a conference this week (at my alma mater, which was a blast.) I came away impressed by the committedness and good humor of folks who do a job that does not get enough respect. In Daniel Pink’s new series for the Washington Post, entitled “Why Not?”, he asks, “Why not pay teachers $100,000 a year?”Pink makes a pretty solid argument for giving teachers a big pay raise. One striking statistic: 44% of American schools are suffering a teacher shortage. It’s worth reading.
