Hello, Wonderseekers,
It was World Mental Health Day yesterday. The theme for the year is “Our Minds, Our Rights” which is grounded in the belief that mental health is a universal human right. I’ve been thinking about the terrible news out of Israel and its connection to mental health, and that shared root is polarization. People aren’t born polarized. They are created through mentally unhealthy environments and habits. I’d encourage you this week to resist the pull towards polarization and to honor the power of silence in the face of horror and complexity. Watch below for some thoughts.

Some wonderbringers for me this week:
“I'm very concerned that our society is much more concerned with information than wonder, in information than silence…and I feel that we need a lot more wonder and a lot more silence in our lives. […] Silence is so powerful, so important, there is so much to be learned from it. ” —Fred Rogers
The flow of a good poem can synchronize your heart and breath: Feeling Stressed? Read a Poem
A great new read from Amy Edmondson, the pioneering researcher behind the concept of psychological safety: Right Kind of Wrong - The Science of Failing Well.
Who needs AI when you have paint, soap, and water: French visual artist Thomas Blanchard pays tribute to the English ambient music master Brian Eno with riveting imagery.
If you’re reading this early enough today, you can still join us for a webinar with Tinkergarten about Teaching With Wonder: How to spark curiosity & awe in kids we love & teach. If you miss it, don;t worry. There will be a recording available along with a Teaching with Wonder resource guide. And I’ll be in Poland later this month to talk about why wonder matters. Tickets to Masters & Robots are still available (and you can join virtually too!)
With wonder,
