Hello, Wonderseekers,
This week I’m reflecting on our passions. What drives us, delights us, or gives our life meaning. In his compilation of letters between himself and Princess Elisabeth of Bohemia entitled Passions of the Soul, Descartes referred to emotions as our “passions” and he believed wonder to be “the first of all the passions.” (There’s more about this in my book if you’re so inclined.)
Enjoy a few “passionate” wonder nuggets!
Some wonderbringers for me this week:
For some, passion starts young: Flamenco dancer Sergio Bailaor performing with 10-year-old student Andrea at @duartedanza in Seville.
Passion in craftsmanship: Marbling a silk scarf by floating paint on top of a gel and using combs to drag designs into the surface.
A BIG passion: Swiss artist SAYPE and his giant hillside frescoes.
And speaking about passions, I am loving what Elizabeth Talerman is doing with her passion of needlepoint. I am a happy owner of one of her pieces, and I would encourage you to check them out!
