Wonderbringers Newsletter with Monica Parker

Hello, Wonderseekers,
This week is Juneteenth and it’s also Pride month, so I wanted to share how wonder can cultivate a culture of belonging.

Some wonderbringers for me this week:
Quotable quote by poet and author Ocean Vong on using curiosity to move from a negative to a positive self-concept: “Being queer saved my life. Often we see queerness as deprivation. But when I look at my life, I saw that queerness demanded an alternative innovation from me. I had to make alternative routes; it made me curious; it made me ask, ‘Is this enough for me?’”
The kids are alright: 6 Black Teens who are changing the world.
People are wonderful: Man stands in as a parent to LGBTQ kids.
Any aspiring writers who fancy a trip to Italy may be interested in the Essere Writers Retreat in Tuscany, run by author and educator Jennie Lee. Looks like a wonderfilled place to be inspired!
With wonder,
