What a week! The Power of Wonder is officially a bestseller! It found its way onto the Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly, and LA Times bestseller lists this past week, and I’m immensely grateful to the multitude of people who made that a possibility, this community especially.
After four years of work, I am savoring the moment, so it’s apropos that I had an interesting conversation with Jon and Nick from the Flourish FM podcast about the connection between the psychological concept of savoring and wonder. I’ll share a few insights about that idea this week.

This week our soundscape is brought to us by Kelly Hoey. Kelly shares that travel (“especially the moment an airplane levels off above the clouds”) is one of her wonderbringers, and on a recent trip that included Australia, Vietnam, and Cambodia, Kelly was overwhelmed with wonder. While “exploring the Ta Prohm Temple in Siem Reap (a temple that had been abandoned for 400 years, before being “discovered” in the 1800’s during the French colonization of Cambodia),” this “iconic 12th-century Buddhist temple surrounded by jungle” left Kelly “gasping at the ways the trees have folded, poured, enveloped, and claimed the structure.”
The soundscape Kelly shares with us this week is the “crashing waves of the Southern Ocean” recorded in Victor Harbour, South Australia, just outside of Adelaide. She shares that it brought her a sense of wonder because of the “vastness of the horizon” exclaiming, “next stop the South Pole!” Imagine what a journey those waves took to reach that shore. Wow.
