This week our audio moment of wonder is brought to you by Sarah Landstreet. Sarah is what is referred to as a “multi-hyphenate”—she flexes that curiosity muscle whenever she can! Sarah has been an engineer, a cupcake entrepreneur, a business school student, a Y-combinator participant, a printing entrepreneur, a business school professor, and most recently, a medical volunteer with The Centre for Empowerment and Enterprise Development in Ghana.
Sarah helped lead a delegation of Canadian doctors and nurses to Kanuwloe, a farming community in the North Tongu District, where they set up a temporary health center at Kanuwloe’s local school. During their visit they served more than 380 people including 180 children, providing vaccinations, medicine, and medical and dental care.
For Sarah, travel, meeting new people in new cultures, and the field of medicine are all wonderbringers and this trip managed to combine them all. This is what she shared about her audio snippet:
“This is the sound of early morning, just outside my bedroom window in Ghana. We were staying deep in the countryside at a little vocational school. There are all sorts of adorable little exotic birds I loved listening to, and the hush and swish of grasses, and little crickets glowing and purring, and bugs, and who knows what all else in there. It was very dense and warm and lively.”
Sounds wonderous! Close your eyes and be transported to rural Ghana.
