Wonderseekers,
Hello! And welcome to our new Wonderseekers! This week saw a huge increase in our community, so thank you so much for joining!
This week the theme is all about curiosity. In the video, I share about surface and deep curiosity, and then I’ve got some great links along that same theme. Curiosity is oft-derided—curiosity killed the cat after all—but curiosity is good for us. And the right kind of curiosity, deep curiosity, is part of the wonder cycle. What kind of curiosity will you be seeking this week?

Your audio moment of wonder:
Think of this as your mid-week moment of wondrous reflection. Close your eyes, put the phone on silent, and take just two minutes out of your day to be transported.
This week our audio moment of wonder is actually brought to you by myself, but soon anyone who wishes will be able to contribute to our audio wonderbringers. I hope to have that ready for you next week!
So to my audio snippet… The sea has always been a wonderbringer for me. I am a keen sailor, and some of my happiest childhood memories are of family beach holidays. I find the brutish impassivity of the sea makes me feel like a small part of a much bigger world, and in that knowledge not only do I feel smaller, but so do my problems.
I am fortunate enough to spend much of my time in Nice, France on the French Riviera coast. The beaches here are unique in that they are not sandy beaches, rather they are covered in little smooth pebbles called “les galets.” The Niçoise are quite passionate about their galets, so don’t dare ask them where the sand is!
What I love about the galets is that as the surf recedes, the pebbles produce an almost tinkling sound. I find it unique and incredibly beautiful, and I hope you will too.

Some wonderbringers for me this week:
Wonder@work through curiosity: How Curiosity Can Boost Employee Engagement and Work Performance.
On the theme of curiosity, a great podcast on curiosity types: The Psychology Podcast: Perry Zurn & Dani Bassett || How Curiosity Connects Us.
An exercise using curiosity to break out of rumination and tap into presence: A Mindfulness Practice to Meet Tough Emotions with Curiosity.
Quotable quotes: “Research is formalized curiosity. It is poking and prying with a purpose.” ― Zora Neale Hurston, American author and anthropologist
In book update news, I had the opportunity to chat with Maria Shriver’s Sunday Paper about my impetus for writing the book, how wonder helps us, and where to find it. (Stacey Lindsay who reviewed the book called it “magical” and “powerful,” which was lovely to hear.)
Lastly, starting today (Jan 25) and ending Friday (Jan 27) Barnes and Noble are offering a 25% discount if you preorder The Power of Wonder using the discount code PREORDER25. This is fab timing as a bonus chapter on “Relationships and Compatibility” is also now available for all preorders. You can find the instant download here. I hope you enjoy it!
That's it for me. I'm heading back under the duvet. See you next week!
